Sweet. I uploaded images from my old sketchbook here. They are drawings from 2008-2009. I draw them out with pencils and then ink them. But it took until earlier this year that I was able to get around to inking the last 30 or so pages. And then several more months to scan them. And then a few more months to upload them. Awesome. In 2012 I'll upload my paintings from this year.
I'm in a two person show at GR2 in Los Angeles with my friend, Ferris Plock that opens on the 2nd of October.

I have show this week, Saturday August 7th at Double Punchin San Francisco. The show was curated by Ryan De La Hoz, and included, Michael Sieben, Pars Kid and Jon Vermilyea. More information is below:

I'm also in some group show with the East Bay Express, some where in Oakland. The opening is on Friday, but I might not be able to make it cause that's the night I install.
Other than that everything is pretty cool. I'm just painting a ton and staying home a lot. Nothing really too exciting. I'm trying to make 1,344 5"x5" paintings to go to some show in the future. I made a flickr set here to keep track of my progress. Uh, I estimate that it'll take me about 3-4 years to finish this project. I've been trying to make it happen for the past 3 years, thinking that over time I'll have leftovers that can go to this. Cause you think if you have an installation of 200 5"x5"s you'll get some back, but I would usually lose most of them. I think I have to be more on it, and not stop painting. There's always never enough time.

Oh, shit. I haven't been able to update my website for a while cause my server wouldn't let me. for about two weeks. Uh, I'm in a few group shows in August, all in the Bay Area, Mendocino, San Francisco, and Oakland for one night. I added stuff to the store, two prints and one sticker.
Uh, things got kind of hard, and I got behind on a lot of stuff. So yeah, I have to pack up orders from the last two weeks cause I kind of got behind. I don't know. Sort of just happens like that. I think I'm back to working on stuff okay. I'm at least finishing up things.
I added more pages to the sketchbook section. I have some paintings to update, but I've been meaning to break up that section by year.

I've been adding more pages to the sketchbook section. Mostly because just having 6 pages makes me feel like I haven't been drawing much. I actually really shouldn't call it a sketchbook since I don't really sketch. I just make little drawings. I don't know. Some folks tell me I should loosen up and draw whatever and I don't have to ink everything in. I use my sketchbook the way I use my sketchbook. I do used to have a painting notebook. It was made up of some sketches. Most of it's is just me trying to figure out my show schedule and making a list of what paintings go where. Or me mapping out a show. But you know it really isn't worth putting online. I switched to making spreadsheets.
Oh, yeah. So exciting. I haven't made a painting in a while cause I've been putting down ground for the past week. "Putting down ground" means I'm prepping panels to paint on, which is just me endlessly putting layers of medium onto wood that soaks up everything for about a week. It sucks, kind of tedious, and a little messy. I have to put on painting pants, and I most dick around the internet looking for things to watch while drawing, and every once in a while I'll turn around and put a layer down and then I have to wait an hour or so to do another layer. I just went through 5 32oz bottles of medium, but I got about 50 surfaces to work on. For one 32oz bottle it's like $24 with a 30% coupon at either Utrecht or Blick. They don't normally carry the 128oz bucket at the actual stores (I bought one once at the Blick on Van Ness in the City, and was a little too excited). For 128 oz it's $60, so you like save a lot of money. But yeah. I just bought two from Utrecht using a 40% coupon and got free shipping cause my total purchase was over $100. I thought that was pretty sweet, but I probably could have kept that to myself.
Last night I stayed up till 10 in the morning. I figured that I could finish my layers, and stay up till 6:30 to watch the US-Algeria game. I've been streaming from ESPN3.com, which you can see all the games live for free. You can also watch pre-recorded games from as far back a year ago. I watched the Turkey-US, and the Australian-US game while trying to stay up. I also watched Terminator: Salvation (which was alright), and Sharpe's Rifle: Sharpe's Enemy, which is like British TV Movie thing for the mid-90s. It was okay. I think I'm into it cause I liked Horatio Hornblower so much. This episode had a young Elizabeth Hurley in it, which was kind of weird. Yeah, the whole show's kind of weird.
Pretty much, yeah. I have two new prints up in the store. I was going to e-mail a bunch of people who have been asking about that but then I realized I didn't e-mail back a lot of people back then when they did ask, and then felt bad. I'm really bad with e-mails. Especially if you e-mail me through bigcartel. That, and we have Netflix, and I have a laptop, and not to pass blame onto anyone else, but ever since Buffy the Vampire Slayer got onto Instant View, Marci's been kind of obsessed. So when there is down time from painting, she gets on my laptop and I can't e-mail anyone or answer certain questions. But yeah. That's still a pretty bad excuse.
I'm in some upcoming group shows. One opens on the 1st of July in San Francisco at Gallery Heist, Another is a print show at GRNY, July 10th, which I still have to frame my piece and ship out, and the other is in late July in Mendocino, which I agreed to cause I want to visit my friend, Jacob.

I added three pages to my sketchbook section. I stayed up late to draw and around 3:30 am I realized if I stayed up a half hour longer I could watch the German-Croat game. And then the US game started so I ended up staying up till 9:40 am. At half-time I kind of regretted staying up so late, but the US equalized, and almost came up top so it was kind of worth it. And I also finished a lot of drawing and putting ground down on several panels. It's really hard to follow the World Cup when you live out in California. The first game is at 4 in the morning, and the last one ends around 2 in the afternoon. When you wake up normally from noon to 2 PM that really doesn't help you out.
I started drinking coffee again. Today I had my second cup. I took a break from caffeine for two weeks. I don't know how it started, I think I forgot to drink anything, and then after realizing I was off it I just went with it and consciously tried not drinking anything caffeinated.

Hey! I'm in a group show at the Palo Alto Art Center (1313 Newell Rd, Palo Alto CA 94303). I have pretty funny drawing in it. A few friends are also in that show and our friend Ferris is going to show us around a bit, cause we've never actually hung out that much in Palo Alto. Tonight I have a painting at Medicine Agency in the city.
I added more stuff to the Other Things section, and I downsized some of the images so they can load up faster. I made a postcard set. You can get it here.
Saturday the Post-It show opens up at the Giant Robot Store in New York. I sent them a few drawings, and they go for $20. So if you're in New York you might want to stop by. And the next group shows I'm in is in San Francisco at Gallery Heist (July 1st) , a printmaking show at GRNY (July 10th), and a small group show in San Francsico at Double Punch (August 14th).
I ordered prints and they should come in sometime next week. One's Cosmic Creepers, which I get asked a lot to make into a print. They're both in a small edition of 50. Uh, there really isn't much else to write about. I wish there was more, but I haven't really left my house to do much. They opened up a Trader Joe's down the street. It's pretty sweet. It's next to the art store, so I stopped on by after buying bristol paper for an illustration job. I've been watching Life with David Attenborough and the Sharpe's Rifle Series with Sean Bean (or Boromir from Lord of the Rings). I don't know if I can get that into Sharpe's, a little bit because of the cheesy intro on the DVD, and a little cause every time I see him pull out his sword I think, "he wants the ring for himself!". Uh. Masterpiece Mystery on PBS is also pretty good. We watched two episodes of Miss Marple (that you can still watch until the 27th). They were pretty good, but the second one was kind of a bummer to watch right before going to sleep.

Yes! I finished my food journal zine, you can get one here. It's kind of a weird zine, but yeah. I made it mostly for friends who knew of my food journal. You can trace where I travel, and who I ate out with. I went to the East Coast (Providence, New Bedford, Portland ME) and to LA twice in the 6 months while I kept my journal. I kind of wish other people from like somewhere else kept food journals so I could know what they really eat, except assuming that all Englishmen only eat bangers and mash with beans all day, or people in Greece just eat Gyros every day. My idea of a Frenchman is some dude carrying around a baggette everywhere he goes cause of Richard Scarry's "Pierre the Parisian Policeman". Well, I guess I could just travel. I mean I do eat a lot of burgers, hot dogs, burritos, and pizza. I mean is that the normal diet of an American? Other than the burrito?
Eh. There's other stuff going on. I don't really know what. I pretty much hate my web server. It won't work for a while and then miraculously will. I bought a carpet for my part of the studio. We also got one for the couch. It's pretty comfy. Marci decided to magnetize her walls. She hangs up her paper paintings with magnets. So yeah, if you want to magnetize your walls, don't. Cause you have to buy the paint in quarts and it's like $24 per quart. And the shit smells bad cause it's pretty much just metal in paint, that we couldn't work in the studio for 10 days or so.
Yeah, I also a new comfy chair. I've been thinking about getting one for the past 5 years. I mean that's pretty much the high light of the past few weeks. That and the rug. They released Daria on DVD, and they put Buffy on Netflix instant view, and the Lakers are in the Finals. The have new episodes of Secrets of the Dead and it's all about WWII it seems (which Marci hates, but I don't seem to mind), but the best thing I saw on PBS is that American Experience episode on whaling. You can see all of this online at video.pbs.org. Oh, and Nova's Science Now is pretty good (with Neil deGrasse Tyson).
Uh, Right now I'm drawing and watching Australian Rules football on ESPN3.com. I have no idea what's going on.
